WORK-PLACEMENT IS A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN DIT, THE STUDENT, AND THE ORGANISATION.
The student benefits from the experience through applying in a real-life context the
technical skills and knowledge they have learned throughout the degree, as well as
experiencing first-hand the operation of an organisation within the relevant industry,
under the direction of an industry supervisor who will oversee their training.
Meanwhile, the organisation benefits from
• having an additional full-time worker who has both practical experience and theoretical knowledge
of the subjects underpinning the industry
• access to a pool of soon-to-be graduates, with the opportunity to form a relationship, train and
assess them for ‘fit’ within the organisation ethos to whom an offer of employment, or a position
within a graduate programme can be made
• enhanced professional development of organisation staff who mentor a trainee
• an ambassador for the company when the student shares work placement experiences with their peers
You will be provided with the opportunity to advertise a position to our students, and to vet the
Payment is at the discretion of the company, and DIT encourages a contribution towards expenses
as a minimum. There is no set rate for payment, and the company can contact the relevant industry
placement coordinator to discuss this.
