This work placement programme is a partnership between DIT, the student, and the food company.
The student benefits from the experience through applying in a real-life context the technical skills and knowledge they have learned throughout their degree, as well as experiencing first-hand the operation of a food business- big or small; established or start-up. Meanwhile, the company benefits from having an additional full-time summer worker who has both practical experience and theoretical knowledge of the subjects underpinning the food industry, for example New Product Development, food sensory analysis, food process engineering, food science, food safety, regulatory affairs, and nutrition. Payment is at the discretion of the company, and DIT encourages a contribution towards expenses as a minimum if possible.
